Long-time friends Rod Kirkcaldie and Bob Cooper have
joined forces to take over the Caloundra store on
Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Rod has years of experience in the
tyre industry and
Bob in senior management roles but both wanted to try owning their own
business so, when the opportunity came up late last year, they grabbed
it.
Service sells, says Rod, and that’s what he, Bob and their team of three
(two tyre fitters and a fully qualified mechanic) are using as their
focus.
Rod was born and bred in Nambour and finished his
schooling in Brisbane. He then spent five seasons playing football
(Australian Rules) professionally but worked in the tyre industry all
the way through, starting as a trainee manager.
“In those days, real footballers had real jobs as
well as what they did on the weekend!” he laughs.
