Darren Ward started his mechanical apprenticeship in 1985 – so it is no surprise his career has grown to see him open JAXQuickfit Tyres in Kensington almost 6 years ago.
As soon as the final school bell sounded, Mr Ward knew that a career in motor mechanics was the right choice for him.
The JAXQuickfit Tyres Kensington outlet also specialise in vehicle registration inspections – a niche market that they have become well-known for.
Mr Ward said the best part of owning his own JAXQuickfit Tyres was
“the people”.
“In this business you get to work with a great bunch of people and plenty of other business owners in the same industry as you who you can really relate to,’’ he said.
“You also get to drive the business as your own boss, which is very satisfying, and means you can tailor your services to suit the needs of the customers in your area.”
When he is not working at JAXQuickfit Tyres Kensington, Mr Ward can usually be found relaxing on his boat with a bottle of wine and some fresh seafood.
“I would love to say I catch the fish myself, but it’s much easier sometimes to go down and buy some fresh catch and just spend the day on the boat relaxing,’’
he said.
JAXQuickfit Tyres Kensington is open from 7:45am to 5pm Mon to Fri and 7:45am to 12 midday on Saturdays.
