Dunlop: Ford Performance Racing Claim

Ford Performance Racing’s Steven Richards claimed race three and the round victory at round six of the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship at Darwin’s Hidden Valley. The FPR and Dunlop-sponsored driver said he was spurred on by losing race two when he was jumped at a restart after a controversial safety car period, which was called to allow an official to remove a Holden flag from pit straight. Richards’ teammate, Mark Winterbottom, also passed Tander on the opening lap of race three and remained in second place for the duration, giving FPR a one-two finish in both race three and the overall round. It was his first round win since Perth 2006 and FPR’s first ever one-two podium finish since its Championship debut in 2003. |

Hidden Valley also played host to Dunlop’s new control tyre and Steven was impressed with the tyre’s first outing: “In terms of consistency over the race they (the tyres) are very good,” Steven explained. “You could slide the thing around a bit and it wouldn’t get away from you like the previous tyre would.”
