As Dunlop
Brand Manager, Melissa
Tilley explains,
Dunlop’s extensive
racing experience has
led to innovative
technologies for tyres
designed for everyday
motoring: “Dunlop's
history is rich with
important innovations
that have improved the
driving experience for
everybody on the road
and in the Grandtrek
PT2, Dunlop has reacted
to the shift in consumer
demand for 4WD vehicles
that operate primarily
on the road.”
The
Dunlop Grandtrek PT2 has
four key characteristics
which focus on comfort,
quietness, high speed
stability and wet
performance for the
driver. The tyre was
developed to improve
noise and ride comfort
by optimising block
rigidity and reducing
irregular wear. The
tread pattern helps
further reduce the noise
of the tyre and large
tie bars provide smooth
and quiet contact with
the road.
To
improve high speed
stability the Grandtrek
PT2 was developed with
one centre straight rib
intended to improve
tracking, which allows
the vehicle to travel in
a precise straight line,
a round block intended
to improve cornering and
an improved contact
pressure distribution
with the road for better
steering response and
stability.
To
improve performance in
the wet, the tyre has
wide straight
circumferential grooves
intended to provide room
for tread to absorb
and repel water, which
helps minimise
aquaplaning providing
better grip on wet
roads. The
tyre also
contains a silica tread
compound which allows
better braking and grip
in wet and dry
conditions.
“Over the
past 120 years, Dunlop’s
impressive innovation
and motor sport track
records have ensured
that it continues to
enjoy an excellent
reputation across the
globe,” explains Tilley.
“The
company’s objective
remains to continuously
produce better products
to enhance the
performance of vehicles
and the driving
experience of its
drivers. In the Dunlop
Grandtrek PT2 we have a
tyre that lives up to
that claim.”
