John Boyd Dunlop grew tired of watching his son struggle with the cumbersome Tyres and patented his own design — marking the birth of what we now know as today’s modern-day tyre. The legend grew by leaps and bounds — and RPMs. What started as a tricycle Tyre grew to become a racing radial for 200 mph motorsport vehicles, way ahead of the times. The Dunlop name became as popular in racing circles as that notorious checkered flag. So here we are today, thriving on that motorsports' heritage. Blending the latest technology with OE experience. Taking everything we learn on the race tracks and incorporating it into tyres for the most discerning drivers.
Dunlop was Australia's very first tyre manufacturer. More than 100 years on, its name remains synonymous with tyres. And while Dunlop no longer makes the bicycle tyres that established it here, the tyre giant does make every other sort of tyre imaginable like ultra high performance, tractor, passenger car, motorcycle, truck, light truck, and four-wheel-drive tyres. Dunlop sponsored Australia's first motor sport event and now boasts almost a century of success in all types of competition. And it has won this country's most important race, the annual Bathurst classic, on several occasions.
