Dunlop

Here and Now with John Bowe (May 2010)

Isn’t it great news to see Dunlop and Formula Vee getting together in an official capacity! Something you may find interesting is that I actually began my racing career in this category after going 50/50 with my dad on a car. Even more of a coincidence is the fact that my very first sponsor was my local Dunlop Tyres dealer in Devonport (Tasmania).

Talking about my home state of Tasmania, I noticed that once again Dunlop dominated most categories at the 2010 Targa Tasmania rally, with nearly 50% of ‘Top 10’ drivers using their tyres.

Personally I wasn’t taking part in the event, but it is an exciting six-day tarmac rally with competitive stages on closed roads for the best touring, sports and GT cars in the world.

Dunlop’s famous DZ03G tyre is very popular at Targa due to its superior dry and wet grip, and durability.

This is also my tyre of choice when tarmac racing and is the rubber we used to win this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour, showing it can go the distance as well.

The symmetrical tread pattern offers excellent drainage capability, but it is the specially designed compounds and profile designs that really lift its dry performance to another level, as shown in the recent MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test when it blitzed the field.

Until next time,
drive safely
