Goodyear and Dunlop working with leading vehicle manufacturers around the world to provide better products for customers

AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURERS UNDERSTAND THERE IS LITTLE REASON TO SPEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS DEVELOPING THE RIDE AND HANDLING QUALITIES OF THEIR NEW VEHICLE IF THEY ARE GOING TO OMIT THE VITAL INFLUENCE OF THEIR ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT (OE) TYRES. OE TYRES PLAY AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN ACHIEVING THE VEHICLE’S DESIRED COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE CAPABILITIES.

As leading OE tyre suppliers, Goodyear and Dunlop engineers work with the individual vehicle manufacturers to prioritise the areas that are of greatest benefit to help satisfy their drivers. For example, a manufacturer that offers a line of fuel-efficient cars may want to highlight this even further with a lower rolling resistance tyre, whereas another manufacturer may want to focus more on traction and handling for a particular model.

This has resulted in either completely new tyre designs or fine-tuned versions of existing designs being specifically engineered to suit each new car from the beginning of the vehicle’s development process. A tyre manufacturer who builds only replacement tyres will never receive the benefit of the vehicle manufacturer’s insight and intent.

Only the vehicle manufacturer and tyre supplier, working together to develop an OE tyre, can determine exactly which design and internal construction will produce the most satisfactory results.
Goodyear and Dunlop work in conjunction with most leading car, 4WD, motorcycle, truck, bus and tractor manufacturers to develop OE tyres. Some of these include:
