Foundation Stone Laid for Michelin China Plant

Michelin recently held a foundation laying ceremony for its new Shenyang factory in Liaoning Province, China, marking the official start of work on the Michelin Shenyang Tire expansion project.

Costing US1.457 billion, once completed, the factory expansion will hold the capacity to produce ten million passenger and light commercial vehicle tyres per annum, plus 1.8 million truck tyres and 295,000 retreaded truck tyres.

The assistance of 1,500 specialists will be required to install the plant equipment and production lines.

In preparation for the new factory’s commissioning, Michelin will send 500 employees to receive training in North America and Europe, plus train approximately 3,500 employees in China.

Michelin expects the factory expansion project to be finished within four years.
