Leading Formula One racing drivers have revealed they are pleased with the new Pirelli tyres, after recently testing them in Abu Dhabi.
The new tyres which will be supplied during the 2011 season, when Pirelli takes over from Bridgestone as official tyre supplier, received top endorsements from two of the biggest names in Formula One.
2010 Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel felt the Pirelli tyres were better than expected – Vettel going into the test with an open mind and coming away impressed.
“We have had two busy days on track getting our first impressions of the new tyres, analysing how they perform and looking at some things for next year,” said Vettel.
Seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher, also confirmed he walked away from the initial testing of the 2011 rubber with a good first impression.
“I feel we had an interesting session. We gathered a lot of data and insights, and have positive feedback from our first impression of the new tyres, said Schumacher.
“In terms of consistency, it looked quite good but we were using the 2010 car and it will be all about how these tyres suit our 2011 car.”
In its role as the official tyre supplier, Pirelli will supply 50,000 tyres to the Formula One World Championship
