Dunlop Dominates “The 6 Hour” – Cements Position as Australia’s Number One Motorcycle Tyre

Dunlop tyres dominated the podium and overall results at “The 6 Hour” Australian Endurance Championship motorcycle race held recently at the Phillip Island track (December 3-5).

After 6 hours of gruelling competition at one of the toughest circuits on racing tyres in the world, the top 9 riders across the finish line all chose Dunlop tyres, as well as Dunlop shod competitors taking out 6 of the 7 racing classifications.

Class champions utilising Dunlop rubber included Wayne Maxwell and Josh Brooks (Superbike 1000), Nick Waters and Chris McLaren (Superstock 1000), Christan Casella, Jed Metcher and John Chiodo (Supersport 600), and Simon Galloway, Angus Reekie and Phil Lovett (Production, Bears and Veteran).

Dunlop National Motorcycle & Motorsport Manager, Ken Wieden, congratulated the winners at the event and commented on the Dunlop tyre performance at the race.

I would like to congratulate all of the riders and teams that took part in “The 6 Hour”, particularly the racers that chose Dunlop tyres to assist them in getting the edge over their competitors,” Wieden said.

“I think to say that Dunlop dominated the tyre battle at the event would be an understatement, the closest competitor tyre was 18 laps behind the leading Dunlop tyre!

“With the top 9 riders across the finish line, as well as 6 out of the 7 class winners all on Dunlop’s including the prestigious Superbike 1000 bracket champions Wayne (Maxwell) and Josh (Brooks), we were very pleased with how our products performed.

“These results just reinforce Dunlop’s position as one of the world’s leading tyre brands and why we are the number one choice for the top motorsport and motorcycle series in Australia.

Overall winner and Superbike 1000 Champion, Wayne Maxwell, also paid credit to how his Dunlop tyres assisted him over the weekend.

“The tyres were simply awesome,” Maxwell said. “We were able to keep consistently fast lap times from start to finish in each session.”
