Tyre production at Bridgestone’s Nasu factory in Japan re-commenced this week, two weeks after the earthquake in Japan.
The Nasu plant was initially scheduled to restart production on March 16, however sparks and smoke were detected in the plant, necessitating a further delay in the start-up of production.

Milan, March 29, 2011 – Reigning Italian Rally Champion Paolo Andreucci has got his title defence with Pirelli off to a perfect start by claiming his fifth victory on the Rally del Ciocco.
The opening round of the Italian Rally Championship is also Andreucci’s home event, which he and co-driver Anna Andreussi won by 22 seconds this year, claiming eight of the 13 stages in their Peugeot Italia 207 S2000 and leading from start to finish.
Goodyear Tyre & Rubber has confirmed it has commenced production at its newest plant in China, at Pulandian.

Pirelli is gearing up to show the world how its new Formula One tyres perform, debuting in Melbourne this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix, the opening round of the 2011 season.
After 33 days of official and private testing, this weekend signals the start of Pirelli’s first season as the sole tyre supplier to the sport – in a three season agreement with the FIA, the governing body of world motorsport.

Announcing the growth plans, Continental Tyres the Americas CEO Matthias Schönberf stated “this investment is part of Continental’s strategy to grow our tyre operations worldwide significantly, especially in the BRIC countries. It will allow us to almost double the production capacity of the Camaçari plant by the end of 2015.”
Bridgestone will remain as the sole tyre supplier of MotoGP until at least 2014, with the Japanese corporation announcing a three-year extension to its current contract on Friday morning. Following Michelin’s decision to leave the sport at the end of 2008, Bridgestone has been supplying rubber to the full grid of riders.
