Bridgestone Resumes Production at Nasu Factory

Tyre production at Bridgestone’s Nasu factory in Japan re-commenced this week, two weeks after the earthquake in Japan.

The Nasu plant was initially scheduled to restart production on March 16, however sparks and smoke were detected in the plant, necessitating a further delay in the start-up of production.

Output at the plant will increase gradually as electricity restrictions are lifted and “other issues” resolved.

The Nasu plant’s return to production means that all of Bridgestone’s five factories in Japan are now back in production.

Bridgestone’s Nasu plant holds the capacity 2,600 tons of passenger car, motorcycle tyres and other tyres each month.
