Goodyear Breaks Ground on Global HQ Project

Goodyear has announced that it has officially broken ground on its new global headquarters complex in Akron, Ohio.

The new complex will serve as headquarters for the company’s global operations and North American tyre business team and will connect to the existing Innovation Centre.

The project was announced several years ago, but the global financial crisis and its effects on the tyre manufacturer forced delays and it is now scheduled to be completed in early 2013.

This was truly a remarkable team effort and a good example of the public and private sectors working together for the common good,” said Goodyear chairman, CEO and president Richard J. Kramer.

Goodyear is proud to be a global company headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Both Goodyear and the city have changed and grown over the years, but our commitment to Akron remains constant. Goodyear will continue to be a vital part of this community’s future.”

When the building work is completed, Goodyear will relocate about 2,000 associates into the building. The Innovation Centre is currently home to more than 800 associates.

Goodyear will lease the office space until 2030 as part of the agreement and have potential options until 2093.
