Goodyear Pulandian Celebrates First Official Tyre

FEBRUARY 28, 2011, MARKED A MILESTONE FOR GOODYEAR WITH THE COMPANY COMMEMORATING THE FIRST OFFICIAL TYRE TO ROLL OUT OF ITS LATEST MANUFACTURING PLANT, ONE OF GOODYEAR’S MOST STATE-OF-THE-ART AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY IN THE WORLD.

Located in Pulandian, China, the plant cost US$700 million to build and integrated some of the world’s most advanced tyre manufacturing technologies. In addition to increasing Goodyear’s global manufacturing capacities, the 245,000 square metre facility will also be able to reduce energy consumption through the use of an integrated lighting solution that controls lighting conditions by balancing sunlight with electric lighting. For water conservation, the plant is designed for zero discharge, incorporating a waste water treatment plant that cleans the industrial waste water and returns the waste water into the system for reuse. Rainwater will also be collected for use within the facility, along with Goodyear maintaining the zero waste to landfill methodology at the site.

Goodyear believes in creating sustainable manufacturing and the company’s vision will soon be realised with Pulandian going into full production.
