Dunlop shod cars came in 1-2-3 in the first round of the Australian Production Endurance Championship at Phillip Island on May 28-29.
Stuart Kostera and Inky Tulloch took their TMR Mitsubishi Lancer to victory in the six-hour race, winning by more than a lap over Jake Camilleri and Scott Nicholas, with Jim Pollicina, Dean Kelland and Steve Cramp coming in third outright two laps behind the winners.
Kostera, who was also the 2010 6 Hour winner, and Tulloch were the team to beat all weekend first taking pole position before going on to take the chequered flag.
“It’s a fantastic victory in a day that had plenty going on,” Kostera said after the race.
“Last year at Eastern Creek we had one of those days where everything went perfectly, but today was different with the tyre management, weather, safety cars and even that penalty. But the team did a great job and Inky was right on the money all day so it’s a great win for everyone.
“The Dunlops were superb as well; they showed excellent grip and resilience and were a key contributor to the win.”
In addition to Dunlop taking the first three outright placings, its tyre performance dominance was further reflected with four class wins out of a possible six at the event.
Most competitors on Dunlop tyres chose to fit the Dunlop DZ03G, which is widely regarded as the leading semi-slick tarmac rally tyre. The DZ03G offers a symmetrical, directional tread pattern, exceptional grip and has excellent drainage capability. It has also taken out the prestigious MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test crown in the semi-slick category for the past three consecutive years.
