Pirelli has tested in Valencia twice during the build-up to its first season in Formula One, but only at the permanent circuit on the outskirts of the city rather than on the 5.419-kilometre street circuit inaugurated in 2008, which runs through the ultra-modern City of Arts and Sciences made famous by the architecture of local man Santiago Calatrava.
MICHELIN climbs to the top of the Acropolis!
Victory on this year’s Acropolis Rally of Greece ended up in the hands of Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia. The French pair’s CITROEN DS3 WRC completed the course in a total time of 4:04:44.3s after a thrilling fight with the similar car of team-mates and seven-time World Champions Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena who came second, +10.5s behind the winners.
Acropolis Rally Greece
The Acropolis Rally Greece is the seventh round of the 2011 World Rally Championship. This year sees the event return to the series after a year away from the calendar, while the route takes in Athens and Kamena Vourla. In 2009, the rally’s base switched to Loutraki and much of the action takes place near the Corinthian Canal
Button Takes Dramatic Canada Win on Pirelli PZero Tyres
Button passed Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel on the final lap to win the race, despite a collision with his team mate, a drive-through penalty, and five pit stops: which at one point in the race put the Englishman as low as 21st. Nonetheless, the correct strategy calls in the constantly changing conditions – as well as a fantastic drive – enabled him to win one of the most action-packed races of the year.
US military awards Goodyear and Michelin US$60 million of tyre contracts
The Ohio-based, Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co., has been awarded a maximum of US$37,104,838 for aircraft tyres, whilst Michelin North America Inc., was awarded a maximum of US$28,017,732.
Pirelli showcasing 2010 P Zero clothing and footwear collection
On its official Facebook page, the Italian tyre manufacturer states that the 2012 collection brings to mind the power, technology and passion for competition and sport – values which have always inspired Pirelli.
Block to Rock Formula One
’Gymkhana’ legend and World Rally Championship star Ken Block will drive the Pirelli F1 test car, which has been used by the Italian company since its Formula One programme was announced in June 2010.
