After nine gruelling rounds of the 2011 Australian MX Nationals, Dunlop has celebrated a 1-2 result with the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team in the premier Pro Open Championship.
A crowd of more than 5,000 fans packed into Queensland’s Coolum Pines circuit to watch the season finale on July 30-31, which saw Jay Marmont take out his fourth consecutive title ahead of teammate Josh Coppins. Coppins had come into the last round leading the series; however he damaged his shoulder in the third race of the event and was unable to continue after crashing out when another rider came down in front of him.
Marmont however, mastered the track – which was sandy loam in some sections and hard in other sections – to take out both the round and series, with his Dunlops handling the tricky conditions with ease.
“Dunlop would like to congratulate Jay (Marmont), Josh (Coppins) and the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team on their brilliant results in the 2011 Australian MX Nationals,” said Dunlop National Motorcycle & Motorsport Manager Ken Wieden.
“Our strong collaboration with the team has delivered the outcome we were all hoping for and you could see the traction of the Dunlop tyres throughout. J ay and Josh were consistently the fastest on track, with superior traction and cornering grip over most of the field.”
“At Dunlop we are extremely proud of our contribution to CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s win. It really highlights the performance of our products in the motorcycle market and all the hard work and effort we put into our tyre development.”
The Australian MX Nationals utilise an open tyre regulation meaning that all tyre manufactures can compete in the series. The success of the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team in the premier Pro Open class highlights the domination of the team, the riders and the Dunlop tyres.
