Tyre failure ruled out as cause of Vettel deflation

Although not much remained of the tyre afterwards, there was enough for Pirelli’s engineers to carry out a full investigation, in collaboration with Red Bull Racing. Having subjected the tyre to minute analysis, structural failure of the tyre or valve has been ruled out as a cause of the incident. Track debris or other outside circumstances cannot be excluded as a possible cause.

Bridgestone says the new plant will primarily serve as an export base for general use replacement market tyres sold in the European, North American and Japanese markets.

To meet rising demand within these regions in the short term, the tyre maker has increased production capacities at its Nong Khae Plant in Thailand and Karawang Plant in Indonesia; Bridgestone determined however that a new plant is necessary in order to respond to continuing growth in demand

Pirelli’s 2012 tyres make their debut

The tyre design has changed slightly for next year: the latest evolutions of the P Zero tyres feature new profiles for the front and rear, and a selection of totally new compounds with only the supersoft compound unaltered. The 2012 tyres have a squarer profile, designed to distribute wear more evenly across the footprint, while the softer compounds have been adjusted to reduce the risk of blistering.

Breen won the class on the Rally GB, his second win of the season, but the result left him tied on points with Estonian Egon Kaur, who claimed the first three rallies of the season. Under the WRC Academy rules, a tie-break is decided by the number of stage wins, and with more stage wins than his rival, Breen was crowned champion.
