Ford Perfornance Racing Take Third Consecutive Clean Sweep with Victories at Phillip Island
FORD PERFORMANCE RACING (FPR) CLAIMED ITS SIXTH AND SEVENTH STRAIGHT WINS IN THE V8 SUPERCAR CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER MARK WINTERBOTTOM AND WILL DAVISON CLAIMED A VICTORY EACH IN THE TWO RACES CONTESTED AT PHILLIP ISLAND.
Davison’s win gave FPR its third consecutive clean-sweep following victories in New Zealand and Perth. Saturday race winner Winterbottom looked in contention for a personal cleansweep at the Island until he was forced to queue in pit lane behind his team-mate during an early safety car period. Despite not changing tyres to prevent dropping to the rear of the field, the resultant loss in time meant he emerged in the middle of a large pack of cars on older tyres. He recovered throughout the race and in the closing laps on fresher Dunlop rubber, gained a number of places to finish sixth.
