Pirelli To Invest In Green Tyres

Pirelli recently confirmed a major investment into the Carlisle tyre production factory in the UK.

The £20 million (approximately $30 million) are being spent on research and development as well as machinery upgrades.

Expected to create almost 40 new jobs, the new employees will contribute to develop a new eco-tyre that offers better environmental performance and is also manufactured in a ‘greener’ way.

Alan Wilson, Engineering Manager at Carlisle’s Pirelli factory told the local paper News&Star: “This is by far the biggest significant investment we have had in many, many years. I am delighted Pirelli have given permission for this level of investment.”

Whilst details of the new roles are still being finalised, the Carlisle factory will be looking to recruit locally where possible.
