The Bathurst 1000 is coming up in a couple weeks from October 7-10 and I can’t wait! Known as the “Great Race”, the Bathurst 1000 is a 1000 km/161 lap test of drivers, teams and machines held at the Mount Panorama Circuit near Bathurst in New South Wales.
This is my first column for 2010 and so much has already happened this year! Recently I went back to Mt Panorama to race in the Bathurst 12 Hour with fellow ex-V8 Supercar driver Paul Morris and Gary Holt, sharing Gary’s Eastern Creek International Karting BMW 335i.

Capping off a weekend’s fast-paced racing, the team’s win in 202 laps and 1254.4kms in treacherous wet-weather conditions was assisted in no uncertain terms by the vehicle’s Dunlop Direzza DZ03G tyres.
JB was honoured at the V8 Supercar Championship Series annual gala dinner as he became the 14th inductee into the ‘Hall of Fame’ since it was instituted in 1999.
They call it the “Great Race” and for good reason! Once again, the Bathurst 1000 was a nail biter. I was fortunate to be able to watch the race with lots of my Dunlop friends, so that made the withdrawal symptoms I still get less taxing.
