Pirelli Supplies Supersoft Compound Tyre for Monaco GP2 Races

Pirelli will supply its supersoft compound tyres to the GP2 Series competitors contesting round three in Monaco from 26-28 May.

The supersoft compound is the softest of the four tyre types in the Pirelli P Zero range and has been developed specifically for the new-for-2011 GP2 car.

The second round of Formula One’s feeder series – GP2 and GP3 – took place over the weekend at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Pirelli’s P Zero hard slicks forming the centrepiece of some exciting racing, alongside the Spanish Grand Prix.

In Turkey, Pirelli decided to equip both GP2 and GP3 drivers with its medium slicks because of the specific characteristics of the track: a medium-abrasive surface, dramatic gradient changes, two long straights and 14 challenging corners including the multi-apex Turn Eight.

Successful Start for Pirelli Tyres During GP3 Pre-season Tests

Pirelli enters its second year as sole tyre supplier to the GP3 Series, having successfully completed its 2011 pre-season tests, which finished in Barcelona last Thursday. A total of eight days of testing were completed, with Pirelli supplying its soft compound tyres at Paul Ricard (3-4 March) as well as its hard compound slick tyres at both Silverstone (29-31 March) and Barcelona (12-14 April).

The 2011 GP3 season will feature eight rounds supporting the Formula One Grands Prix in Europe, starting at the beginning of May and ending in mid-September. During each race weekend a practice and qualifying session will take place, followed by two races.
