After two tense days of racing in Sydney, Whincup sealed the title for his third crown in four years. While Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom claimed the final race win in front of Craig Lowndes and Shane van Gisbergen, the day belonged to Whincup as he became the first driver in the modern era of the V8 Supercars to take the Championship in both a Ford and a Holden.

Ten years since they last drove together, Skaife and Lowndes beat home the Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon of Mark Winterbottom and Luke Youlden. Third was Team BOC Commodore of Jason Richards and Andrew Jones with a remarkable result given they incurred a drive-through penalty on lap eight which put them a lap down on the field.
