Dunlop: Superbike Tyre Testing at Phillip Island
After the announcement that Dunlop will continue to supply tyres to the Australian Superbike Championships Dunlop Motorsport manager Ken Weiden recently spent time on Phillip Island testing the new tyres that will be supplied to the championship for the 09 Season.
The testing was coordinated with the Yamaha Japanese Superbike Team who were in Australia testing with technicians from Dunlop Japan in preparation for their own 2009 Japanese Superbike Series.
Dunlop conducted the testing with the Australian Yamaha Race Team (YRT) and put to test both 600 Supersport & Superbike tyres over the course of 2 days.
The test riders were reigning Australian 600 Supersport Champion, Jamie Stauffer and also Brian Starring, who in extremely difficult & hot conditions managed to lap at near record times on the new rubber. The test was a success for both Dunlop and Yamaha and allows us to prepare for our forthcoming road race series.
