Dunlop wins tyre tender on two wheels and four
Dunlop has announced it has won the tender to supply dry weather tyres for the newly revised Formula Xtreme class, as well as Yamaha FZ6 Cup and 600cc Superstock in 2008 and 2009 national series run by the Australasian Superbike Company.
Dunlop Motorcycle Tyre Manager, Owen Hughes, explained that Dunlop will introduce a new product - the D209 Sportmax GP Racer - to the Australian market exclusively to service this contract.
"The new D209 Sportmax GP Racer incorporates some of the latest motorcycle race tyre technology purposefully designed for classes such as these and we are very pleased to offer this exclusive product to AUSCO," said Owen.
"We've tested the tyre using one of Australia's best riders at Phillip Island, notorious for being one of the world's toughest tracks on tyres and we are very confident that the tyre will provide riders in these classes with good consistent grip and predictability over the life of the tyre - this was proven when the fastest lap came on the third last lap of our 160km test."
Dunlop Motorsport have also won a further supply contract for wet weather kart tyres until the end of April 2011. The contract, which runs for three years from the beginning of May 2008 will see the Dunlop KT6 SLW1 Kart racing wet weather tyre fitted to virtually all Australian Karting Association classes when it rains.
