New JAXQuickfit Tyres Team in Prahran

Honesty and good service are the keys to making a business work, according to one Melbourne man who should know.

Barry Cooper has more than 20 years experience in the tyre industry and he’s now joined the all-new JAXQuickfit Tyres outlet at Prahran.

The site, at 386 High Street, has been a tyre store for around 20 years, most recently under the name Quick Fit Tyre Service, but as it changed hands, it gained a new name, joining a 72-store chain created when JAX Tyres and Quickfit Tyres merged late last year.

Barry Cooper had been working at a rival tyre chain for the past 11 years, but has jumped to the new ship.

“I have a very strong work ethic and I’m very keen to help build this business up to its full potential.

“The best way to do that is by looking after people, do things properly. You have to be honest, you have to be reliable, you have to treat people well. That’s the way a business grows.

“There are people out there who think they will grow a business by ripping people off, but it doesn’t work for long. Word-of-mouth referrals are pure gold and you only get that ongoing support if you take care of your customers properly.

Barry’s 20 years of knowledge and expertise is on offer to any customer at JAXQuickfit Tyres, Prahran, as is that of assistant manager, Josh Leversedge, who has more than five years in the industry. They are both renowned in the district for their dedication and high level of professional service.

Ironically, it may never have come out this way if Barry had followed his heart. His original plan in life was to become an apprentice chef but couldn’t get a position. While he was still trying to think of an alternative Barry went to help his older brother who was working for Dunlop - aside from three years selling cars, he’s been in the tyre industry ever since.

“It is a great business if you like helping people, which I do. Your workmates become your friends, your customers become your friends.”

Barry and the team at JAXQuickfit have some special deals for their customers to celebrate the opening of the new store.

Starting in June, anyone buying two BF Goodrich 4X4 tyres will receive $25 cash-back and they – or anyone else buying two new tyres of any type in June – will automatically be entered in a draw to win a hot lap with V8 Supercar star, ‘Dancing’ Grant Denyer, who is sponsored by JAXQuickfit Tyres. There are six prizes for two people as Grant’s guests at either Queensland Raceway (July), Oran Park, Sydney (August), or Eastern Creek (Sydney) in November.

Barry says being part of the JAXQuickfit group provides the benefit of huge buying power for his store, along with an emphasis on staff training and efficiencies of service, all of which work in the customers’ favour.

JAXQuickfit Tyres stocks the world’s leading tyre brands including Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Pirelli and Michelin – and that includes the all-new Michelin Preceda PP2 high performance tyre.

Staff are fully trained in using the all-new state-of-the-art fitting machine capable of fitting the hi-tech run-flat tyres (now fitted exclusively to BMW models) and wheel diameters of up to 24 inches.

Another specialty of the store is a wide range of top-line alloy and steel wheels, along with a variety of other mechanical services such as brakes and suspension.

JAXQuickfit Tyres, Prahran, is open Monday-Friday, from 8am-5pm and Saturdays, 8am-midday.
