New JAXQuickfit Team at Haberfield 

A commitment to customer service is a guarantee of satisfaction for anyone in need of new tyres in Sydney’s inner west.  

That’s the promise from Chris Geoghegan, the new owner of the JAXQuickfit Tyre centre on Parramatta Road at Haberfield. 

Chris, 39, of Lilyfield, feels right at home in the area. During his childhood, his father Ian ‘Pete’ Geoghegan – one of Australia’s motorsport legends – owned a car yard next door to the site where Chris now runs his own business. 

Chris started his career in the tyre industry with another motorsport legend - old family friend, Bob Jane. In 1986 he began as a humble junior sweeping floors and other odd jobs before being offered a sales position six months later. 

“It seems ironic now, but that first sales job was based at Haberfield too!” 

“Then one of the guys I was working with joined JAXQuickfit and he suggested it was a company I would enjoy being part of. 

“He was right. I bought the Bondi Junction store with a partner four years ago and late last year I took over this one. 

“The goal is to build the business by looking after our customers. There’s nothing wrong with making money, providing you take care of people.  

“Customer service is the most important thing. People can buy a tyre anywhere but they don’t always get treated well. If you look after people, word gets around – if you don’t look after them, it gets around even faster.” 

Chris says one of the best parts of his job is the people he meets, whether they are customers he connects with, or contacts in the industry. 

Outside working hours, Chris spends as much time as possible with his wife Michelle and children Max, four, and Chloe, who is nearly three.

He loves all sorts of sport, including cricket and motor racing, mostly as a spectator these days. 

“Work comes first and I worry about the rest later. If you can’t afford it, you can’t do it! Besides, I think I’m too old to compete now!”

Chris has eight staff working for him at Haberfield, including mechanics, tyre fitters and a front-end specialist. 

“People think JAXQuickfit is just about tyres, but we offer a wide range of services including servicing, batteries, brakes and suspension – and of course, wheels, and tyres.”
