Michelin,
the world’s leading tyre manufacturer and innovator for both passenger
vehicles and international motorsports racing, is taking the driving experience
up a gear for motorists with the launch of a new
tyre in Australia, the
Michelin Pilot Pilot Preceda (PP2).
Designed for motorists
who have a passion for on-road performance without compromising ride comfort,
the
Michelin Pilot Pilot Preceda (PP2) delivers
higher precision cornering, exceptional responsiveness and more stability
to match road conditions. These features are essential for drivers who
demand superior handling accompanied with a smooth ride.
The Pilot Pilot Preceda
(PP2) is designed for discerning consumers who
are likely to drive:
- Sports vehicles
such as the Mazda RX8 and Subaru WRX
- Performance and
luxury sports packaged vehicles such as the Audi A6 and HSV Senator
- Entry level sports
packaged vehicles such as the Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer
“The
Michelin
Pilot Pilot Preceda (PP2) has a racing inspired
Formula-G tread compound, TST construction and asymmetrical tread pattern.
It is a true sports performance
tyre that delivers additional emphasis
on quieter noise levels and improved ride comfort”, said Pierre Azemat, Product Marketing Manager,
Michelin Australia.
“Our in-house
tests demonstrated that Pilot Pilot Preceda (PP2)
generates better steering response and progressive handling as well as
higher cornering power when compared with competition in its class”,
Mr Azemat added.
The
Michelin Pilot
Pilot Preceda (PP2) is also found to be the quietest
and smoothest
tyre in its class, an attribute that is especially important
to motorists who value vehicle comfort.
When compared with
its predecessor, the Pilot Preceda (PP2)
has better wet handling and gripping performance which results in shorter
braking distances – 14.1m versus 14.5m, from 60 km/h to 10 km/h
braking distance, even at a maximum speed of 270 km/h.
In addition, the
Michelin Pilot Preceda (PP2) is constructed to
perform better under high-speed in wet conditions.
With the launch of
the Pilot Preceda (PP2) in Australia,
Michelin
is seeking to further increase its share of the sports performance
tyre
market.
The
Michelin Pilot
Pilot Preceda (PP2) is available in 31 sizes, from
15 to 19 inches and is expected to hit the roads in Australia during the
first half of 2006.
