The FIA, the
governing body of the World Rally Championship, has announced that
"Pirelli will become the official tyre supplier for the WRC from
2008-2010.
The decision was reached following a meeting of the World Motor
Sport Council in Paris on Tuesday [February 27].
"Pirelli will now enter into a formal contract to supply tyres in
all events of the Championship to all competitors with a four-wheel
drive rally car (as defined in the International Sporting Code),"
added a statement from the FIA.

The decision means that Pirelli will return to the WRC in 2008 after
quitting the sport at the end of last season. Pirelli, who supplied only
one team in 2006, namely Subaru will take over the position currently
held by
BFGoodrich, the only other manufacturer to have submitted a
tender to the FIA to become the control tyre for the WRC for the next
three years from 2008.
