About Citroen
Now part of the Peugeot-Citroen PSA group of vehicle manufacturers, leading French brand Citroen was founded in 1919 by Andre Citroen. The brand was the first major mass production manufacturer of cars outside of the USA, and took only 8 years to become the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world.
The success of Citroen is due in part to its approach to sales, pioneering the idea of a sales and service network, much like that in use today. In addition, Citroen has an ongoing reputation for innovation, including the world's first mass produced front wheel drive car and the first car with an all-steel body. More recently, the vehicle make's stranglehold on the World Rally Championships has become legendary.
Today Citroen continues to innovate, with several alternatively-fuelled vehicles under development, including the C-Cactus diesel-electric hybrid and the biofuel-run C4 BioFlex. Citroen has also produced a long list of concept cars, the latest of which is the 2010 Metropolis.
