About Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi is the sixth largest carmaker in Japan and the seventeenth in the world. It is part of a conglomerate that was at one stage the biggest corporate entity in Japan and whose companies share the Mitsubishi name and badging.

The Mitsubishi brand initially had some stigma attached to it when it appeared in Australia due to its association with the legendary Zero fighter aircraft that wrought havoc on the Allies in the Pacific. Despite this it became a familiar and successful brand and local manufacture followed.

After a period of success, a range of factors affected local sales and in 2005 the 380 model was released and became the only car Mitsubishi produced locally. The company ceased local manufacture altogether in 2008.

A revitalisation plan proved successful and the brand is now enjoying greater success here in Australia, albeit with fully imported models. With a range of sedans, small cars and SUV's, Mitsubishi's future again looks bright.
