About Nissan

Originally named Datsun in 1914, Nissan is Japan's third largest car maker. Along with Toyota and Honda, Nissan has made a huge dent in the US car market. The brand currently has a partnership with Renault and Daimler, which has allowed for considerable exchange of technology.

Nissan first got a foothold in the Australian market with its Datsun small cars. Datsun enjoyed a cult following but reliability issues tainted the name and Nissan decided to withdraw it from the market. Subsequent cars were simply badged as Nissan, a name first used in the 1930's.

With a range of vehicles including small cars, sedans, crossover SUVs and work utes, Nissan has most bases covered. Furthermore, like other Japanese brands, Nissan has a luxury offshoot, Infiniti. Arty advertising has meant that Nissan enjoys credibility with the youth market, and the brand's performance cars have a cult following.
