About SAAB
Saab is an exclusive Swedish car maker by appointment to the Swedish royal family. Over the years, Saab has created a reputation for a raft of innovations and technical achievements. Saab began in the late 1930's as an aircraft manufacturer, and to this day Saab makes cutting edge fighter aircraft. It merged with a truck maker called Scania in 1969, and has regularly produced cars in partnership with other companies.
From 1989 to 2000 GM gained greater control of the company until it owned Saab outright. New models failed to sell in the US and, with sales declining in general, GM decided to sell the brand. A small company called Spyker Cars bought Saab after it faced bankruptcy in 2009, and the future looks bright once again. There are plans for new models and GM will continue to supply vital power train components. Saab has garnered a loyal and passionate following with those who appreciate the refined and innovative characteristics of its products.
