Vintage Dunlop : John Bowe

John Bowe & 1965 Brabham Formula Two car built by Motor Racing icon Jack Brabham

"At Phillip Island in February I had the pleasure of driving a beautiful little 1965 Brabham Formula Two car built by Australian Motor Racing icon Jack Brabham and of course the tyre of choice back in 1965 just as it is in 2008 was Dunlop. These tyres, all hand built, were of a cross ply construction with mostly rayon overlays, a far cry from today’s hi-tech road tyres, let alone the magnificent racing slicks that cover the V8 Supercar field. Notice how narrow the tyre is, this was the era of fat drivers and skinny tyres unlike today where the tyres are fat and the drivers are highly developed athletes."

"Dunlop has been at the forefront of racing and road tyre development for nearly 100 years. Real proof that racing improves the breed!"
